Processing

What Our Clients Say

I wanted to compliment you for the recent work your firm completed. We came to you with an expedited request that required the processing of multiple pay records on disks and you delivered the requested product on a rolling basis, ahead of schedule. You and your firm were responsive to our request and could not have been easier to work with.

Pay Dispute, Federal Court

Our staff of experienced document professionals provides a number of alternatives for processing your hard copy and electronic documents for review and production. While many service providers only process electronic files, not hard-copy documents (or outsource processing altogether), IE Discovery provides all processing alternatives to support your organization’s needs.

The benefit to you?

The conversion of documents and data into a unified format (which attorneys can easily review using our InfoDox® platform) serves to expedite the review and production phases of litigation. IE Discovery provides itemized services to maximize the flexibility required by your organization, enabling support of hard-copy and electronic documents in native format or converted to image. Our flexible approach allows your organization to begin working with some documents as soon as the information is stored in the platform repository, while other information is still being processed. Some of the processing services we offer include:

  • Hard-Copy Processing

IE Discovery provides a full-range of processing capabilities for hard-copy collections, including: box and folder level inventory of the collection, document preparation and reassembly, electronic or physical Bates numbering, imaging and Optical Character Recognition (OCR). Document Preparation includes removal of all fasteners (staples, paper clips, etc.), insertion of slip-sheets between documents, and can even include tracking of master/attachment ranges (such as a fax cover sheet attached to a cover letter attached to a report). IE Discovery employs workflow-tracking software to manage the imaging process, with each image undergoing automated Quality Assurance (QA) processing and manual Quality Control (QC) review to ensure a high quality of resulting images. When necessary, IE Discovery can deploy resources to your organization’s site to conduct document preparation/reassembly and scanning, thereby keeping your documents in-house.

  • Electronic Processing

IE Discovery provides a full-range of processing capabilities for electronic file collections, including: restoring archives from backup tapes or other media, file-level inventory of all media, virus-checking, de-duplication, conversion and electronic Bates numbering of electronic files. When restoring files from media, our software systems manage the process of copying the files without disturbing metadata—thereby minimizing the possibility of altered files and spoliation claims. We provide de-duplication services using industry-standard algorithms (including MD5HASH), or based on any combination of metadata fields (including source of the files) to determine uniqueness. Conversion services include creation of TIFF images; extraction of text and metadata; provision of informative placeholders for files which cannot be processed; detection/OCR scan of image-only files; auto-population of coded document information from metadata (where appropriate); auto-population of inventory and source information; manual processing of agreed-upon file types; and insertion of placeholders for empty or unusable files and 100% human QC.
